The map above shows present day Sierra Madre with the area where Davis and Sarah Trussell purchased their property in the original development. Originally, they built a home near the middle of the property. Later, after several of their children had moved away, the Trussells sold the original house, along with the lower half of the property to J. Blumer. They then built another house on the north end of the property and lived there until 1893 when they moved to San Diego. In 1894, they moved to the San Pasqual Valley. Davis also built a house nearby in Sierra Madres for his Daughter, Winona, and her husband Ed Jones, shortly after the couple was married in 1883. It was against the side of the latter house that the famous Wisteria vine eventually grew. The Jones' second and third children were twins that died only a few days after birth. They are remembered by a small, simple stone in the Sierra Madre Pioneers Cemetery labeled "Ralph and Ray". It seems likely that Ray was to be Ray Trussell's namesake.
